About the property
Le Moulin de la Houssaie is a beautifully restored mill house in rural Brittany
  • Outdoor heated pool
  • Secluded privacy in ten acres of woodland
  • Sleeps 8-10 people

Le Moulin de la Houssaie (Moo-lon dila who say) is approached along its own 500 yard lane (there is no sign post off the public lane so drive slowly - when you know you are following the final location details on the 'getting there' page).

Once there you will find total seclusion and a house which offers stylish surroundings within a family home. The mill (the stream that drove the mill workings has long gone - but the internal working) has been fully restored at the end of the farmhouse kitchen.

There are five bedrooms (two doubles, one approached by spiral staircase on a mezzanine above the mill workings, two singles, having three-quarter sized beds - suitable for use as doubles - with mezzanines for extra accommodation for the more adventurous kids (and probably older ones) in your party. Another has a double bunk next to the master bedroom. There is also a double divan day bed in the lounge).

Note:- Duvets and Pillows are provided but clients should bring their own towels and bedlinen.

The Kitchen is huge with a central island unit for food preparation and wine storage and an antique Breton farmhouse table which will seat 12. Everything you could need is here to cater and tidy up after...Double Cooker, Fridge-Freezer, Washing Machine and Dishwasher and Microwave.

The Main Salon is even larger with ample seating on a leather suite (plus the day bed) for all the family (or both families). Oak beams and walls of exposed stone remind you that you are staying in a very old building...airy in the summer but, if there's a nip in the air...the wood burner will take the chill off and...entertain yourselves with Satellite TV. Video and HI-Fi.

Double doors, to the rear of the lounge, open onto a secluded garden area skirted by woodland (very safe for children) where a play-house with slides will keep the kids amused and out of danger. There is also a door to the front of the house and the courtyard.

Bathrooms - There are two - one with Jacuzzi bath, washbasin and toilet...the other with shower, toilet and washbasin.

Out front is the lane toward the outside world, ample parking, the stream, the pool and a choice of locations for al fresco dining. The barbecue (not one of those nancy boy supermarket jobs but)...a purpose built stone one will allow you to give vent to your culinary urges.

The Swimming Pool - To the side of the property (but well within shouting distance) is the 10 metre x 5 metre heated pool with lawned and non slip paved surround pool (also fenced). There is underwater lighting in the pool and external lighting too. The deep end is at a depth of 2 metres, shelving to a shallow end of 1.5 metres. Ideal for experienced swimmers who need a work-out...or for the kids to work their way up to Duncan Goodhew standard (I'm sure we don't need to advise clients to make sure that non-swimmer children should be encouraged to use the swim trainers and other aids provided. The woodland, which flanks the pool, provides seclusion, privacy and tranquilty.
